It sounds like he was immature then selectively able to work well in some areas but in others, that could be a sign of enthusiasm for Asperger's – a mild variant of autism, where children are often high and functioning of social acceptance, but a lack of social Awareness of other peoples needs and requirements of children tend to no signs of it until the age of 2 or 3, but early detection can reduce impact which it had on the life of a child's problems worse and my son a total of less developed in the same age as your son – plus social violence constantly with a child the same age or smaller than he was.
